“Maybe Kyler Murray Can Buy the As”: Twitter Rips Apart Oakland Athletics as They Become the Laughing Stock After Kyler Murray’s NFL Salary is Compared With the As Payroll

Kyler Murray, the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, is well-known for declining an offer from the Oakland Athletics to play in the NFL in 2019. If he ever decides to give up football, the A’s still has his rights to baseball. Murray has secured a contract that will make him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL for the upcoming two years.

The 24-year-old signal-caller has consented to a $230.5 million, five-year contract extension. John Gambadoro, an Arizona sports insider, claims that the agreement has wording that nullifies some assurances if Murray plays baseball.

The agreement also includes a no-trade provision. The most crucial issue, though, is that Murray cannot attempt to do a Deion Sanders and play two sports at once. Fortunately, it hasn’t been a problem thus far for Cardinals supporters. But given Murray’s early success in the NFL and the money that supports it, it appears—at least for the time being—that he made the correct choice.

Murray has previously said that he won’t rule out a return to the field, stating that he misses baseball and hopes he could do both. Murray is the first athlete to ever be selected in the first round of both the NFL and MLB drafts. But given Murray’s early success in the NFL and the money that supports it, it appears—at least for the time being—that he made the correct choice.
