Matteo Berrettini enjoying his vacation trip after losing Wimbledon, with his girlfriend Melissa Satta

After losing at Wimbledon, Matteo Berrettini is relaxing in Sardinia with Melissa Satta, his model girlfriend.

According to images posted on Instagram by Satta, the Italian world No. 38, who was eliminated on July 10 by eventual Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz, sailed to Italy on Monday.

With friends and Satta’s son Maddox, whom she shares with her ex-husband of ten years, German soccer player Kevin Prince Boateng, the couple cuddled up on a boat.

“I think I still could have played better, but that’s tennis,” Berrettini said after losing the match. “It’s not always what you wish for. Probably in a few days, I’m going to appreciate even more what I did.”

While out on the sea with Satta, a 37-year-old Italian television star, Berrettini seemed to be in excellent spirits.

After the couple met in Miami through common connections, she announced their relationship to the public in January.

“We talked to each other, exchanged the phone number and from there we started to hear from each other,” Satta stated in May, when she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair Italia.

“The next day we both left, my life is in Milan, he lives in Monte Carlo.”

Satta recalled that she had spent time with Berrettini’s parents and that he had met her mother. The couple maintained in touch via “a thousand chats on WhatsApp,” she continued.

As a result of her relationship with Berrettini, Satta also disclosed that she had endured months of “bullying and sexism” online.

When Berrettini, then 27, sustained an abdominal ailment that prevented him from competing in the May Tennis Internationals in Rome, Satta retaliated against those who held her responsible.

Fans evidently adopted the false belief that excessive sex was to blame for the Italian professional’s injury.

“I receive a lot of messages of insults, bullying and sexism,” Satta said at the time. “I have chosen to be a public figure, and I accept being exposed and exposing myself on social media, but I’m just trying to have a romantic relationship with another person, I simply want to try to be happy too.”
