One of the 35-foot tall fiberglass ketchup bottles that used to hang over the scoreboard at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ home stadium was taken down in 2022 when the structure’s name was changed from Heinz Field to Acrisure Stadium, but it has since been put back in place. The bottle was transferred by the Steelers to Gate C, now known as the Heinz Gate.
While it wasn’t on show, the 22-year-old ketchup bottle underwent some renovations, including a fresh coat of paint. The bottle will be shown in the new installation in the “pouring” position, which was previously saved for an offensive Steelers trip to the red zone.

“It then has to be placed on a diagonal, which is how the graphics and the original layout showed that it be on angle, as if the ketchup was going to pour out of it,” Sandy Steffan, vice president of Steffan Industries, one of the contractors on the project, according to our news partners WPXI-TV.

The second ketchup bottle is also undergoing renovation. It will be positioned inside the stadium in a location where spectators can snap pictures with it, according to prior comments by Steelers president Art Rooney II.
Heinz had served as the stadium’s naming-rights sponsor from 2001 to 21 but the condiment company, which is now a part of KraftHeinz following a merger, and the team were unable to come to an agreement on an extension for 2022. Instead, the Steelers went with a $150 million over 15-year agreement with the insurance technology company Acrisure in Michigan.

The Heinz Gate logo and ketchup bottles are part of the new, less significant marketing agreement that the Steelers and Heinz were able to reach. Heinz goods will also be served inside the stadium.
Regarding the rekindled partnership with the Steelers’ stadium, a Kraft Heinz spokeswoman issued a comment.
“As part of Heinz’s continued partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and our evolved presence within the confines of the stadium, we’re thrilled to unveil an Instagram-worthy, experiential photo opportunity with one of the iconic Heinz Field ketchup bottles. …
“This is just one of many ways Heinz continues to support the Pittsburgh community and the Steelers stadium experience.”
