Massive Giants Contract Didn’t Change QB Daniel Jones A Bit: “He’s just Daniel”

Even though Daniel Jones has been paid, don’t anticipate him to be flaunting his newfound wealth.

Daniel Jones, the quarterback for the New York Giants, may go by the moniker “Danny Dollars,” but according to his colleagues, he remains the same person.

Jones, who had a four-year, $160 million contract earlier this year, is still a workaholic who would still be in the running for a new deal if one didn’t know any better.

Dexter Lawrence and Daniel Jones recently received their pay. The quarterback set the bar high with a four-year, $160 million contract. The defensive tackle was valued at $90 million over four years.

“Dexter got a little money swag,’’ Shepard said. They got that money swag,’’ Sterling Shepard said Tuesday, after the Giants completed their first mandatory minicamp practice. “You know when someone hit that lotto. They a little different.’’

Any money swag for Jones?

Nah, he’s gonna stay the same,’’ Shepard said, smiling.

“I don’t even think he has swag to even begin,’’ Lawrence said. “He’s just Daniel.’’

“If you know anything about Daniel, that guy is the hardest worker no matter what the situation is,” said receiver Sterling Shepard. “I expect him to have the mentality of, I’m going to show everybody why I deserve this money, and I mean, he’s always approached the game and practiced day-to-day work with the right mindset. I’m looking forward to seeing him out there balling.”

Jones, who continues to arrive early and remain late, was a little taken aback when asked if the contract placed any obligation on him to demonstrate his deserving of such a payout.

“I never really felt like I needed to show other people or whoever it is. I feel like I’m doing it because I want to do it, because  I enjoy doing it, and I’m trying to be as good as I can be,” he said.

Whether Jones likes to admit it or not, enormous wealth comes with immense pressure. Just Daniel faces a significant hurdle in living up to his new contract.

“I don’t know,’’ Jones said. “Some people may see it that way. I think to me, it doesn’t change anything I’m doing, it doesn’t change my routine or how I’m going to go about my work or my business. That’s the same.’’
