Marshawn Lynch Comments On Russell Wilson & Pete Carroll Relationship

During a recent episode of Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, “Club Shay Shay,” Sharpe attempted to discover more from his guest, Marshawn Lynch, about what transpired between Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Marshawn Lynch Comments On Russell Wilson & Pete Carroll’s Relationship

Lynch would have a strong understanding of how things were conducted during his seven years with the Seahawks, and he also knows Wilson and Pete Carroll well.

Much has been made of Wilson’s personality during his time in Seattle, with various teammates sharing their perspectives, and it hasn’t cast Wilson in the greatest light.

Sharpe initially inquired about Carroll and Wilson’s ties with Lynch.

Lynch stated:

“I didn’t f**k with Pete, and then Russ was just a quarterback for me, right?”… I’ll take Russ, and I put him right there at quarterback and I rock with him because I have done that. But I mean, you know, as far as anything else is like it there…” Shannon asked, “Y’all didn’t have a relationship outside?” Lynch replied, “Nah, there’s no, I mean, can’t pick up the phone and call. I don’t get his number…”

“We had a situation in practice,” Lynch said. “Being accountable was something big for us. We had a practice and [head coach] Pete [Carroll] wasn’t holding him accountable, [Cornerback Richard Sherman] spoke up, a couple of D-linemen spoke up.

“He called practice. We went into, we called it the “kumbaya” room, and Pete told us ‘Hey, nobody go and talk to Russell. If anybody’s got something to say to Russell, come talk to me, come talk to the quarterback’s coach, but nobody go and talk to him.’ And that was when that started

Lynch went on to claim that following Wilson’s bad performance against the Tennessee Titans, he tried to call him to let him know he still backed him, but he didn’t have his phone number.

It wasn’t Lynch’s only revelation regarding Wilson’s tough connection with his teammates in Seattle; the former running back also described an unsettling phone call he had with Wilson while they were teammates.
