Mark Sanchez and Perry Mattfeld got married after one year of their engagement
One year after getting engaged, the former Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, wed “Shameless” actress Perry Mattfeld during Memorial Day weekend in Oaxaca, Mexico.
“Our union is a celebration of our special bond in front of friends and family, and a promise to each other and those closest to us to be strong and supportive towards each other in our future challenges, successes, and failures,” Mark Sanchez told People.
For the special occasion, the former first-round choice, who was selected by the Jets fifth overall in the 2009 draught, sported a sharp beige suit, while Mattfeld, 29, dazzled in a couture Karen Sabag gown for the opulent celebration.
“It was really emotional and special for us,” remarked Mattfeld, who met Sanchez in 2017 through his childhood friend Scotty McKnight, who also briefly played for the Jets.

During the “emotional” ceremony, which Sanchez’s son Daniel officiated as a groomsman and ring bearer, the couple exchanged handwritten vows.
“It was so special to be able to read our vows with him beside us,” Mattfeld recalled.
After leaving the NFL in 2019, Sanchez joined the Fox Sports broadcast team and joked that he “couldn’t turn off the tears.”
“Emotional is a massive understatement. It all hit me at once like a mack truck and after that, I couldn’t turn off the tears! Tears of joy, love and gratitude for getting such an incredible life partner,” the QB said.

After the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds continued the celebrations with more than 200 guests at the reception, including retired center Nick Mangold, a colleague of Sanchez’s from the Jets.
“I went all the way to Oaxaca City, Mexico for @Mark_Sanchez’s wedding and this is the one photo I get of us. Brilliant!” Mangold, TK, tweeted alongside a pic of the pair.

The football team’s head coach at Texas State University, G.J. Kinne, also posted pictures of the idyllic event to Instagram.
“Three days of celebrating Mark + Perry in Oaxaca !!” he exclaimed.
Sanchez and Mattfeld, who got engaged in May, are getting set to travel to Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and the Seychelles for their honeymoon in East Africa.
“We are so lucky because our careers have taken us to many cities across the world, but we both have never been on a trip like this,” she said.
