A number of the nation’s top teams, including Alabama, Kansas, Purdue, and others, have suffered defeats in the last week of the regular season before the tournament. All of this is to argue that the NCAA Tournament may serve as an excellent example of how March Madness will be this year. Not to mention the compelling narratives that will drive this year’s tournament, such as whether Bill Self’s Kansas team can win the tournament twice in a row for the first time since Mike Krzyzewski led Duke to the crowns in 1991 and 1992. The Crimson Tide, a team with All-American potential, will have a shadow over them throughout their March Madness run when it was discovered that former teammate Darius Miles, who was implicated in the mid-January shooting killing, was also involved. Miles has been charged with capital murder.
