“Makes Me Cringe”: Tom Brady Shows His Humble Nature as He Admits That He Doesn’t Like Being Called the ‘GOAT’

It is not an exaggeration to say that Tom Brady is one of the game’s finest players, if not the greatest athlete in the annals of American sports. In his 22 years in the league, he has accomplished more than several NFL clubs have in the entire history of their teams.

Tom Brady has amassed what might be considered three Hall of Fame careers: one in his 20s, one in his 30s, and one, somehow, in his 40s. Brady abruptly declared his retirement from the sport earlier this year, leaving the world in astonishment, but he later made the decision to come out of retirement.

It would be reasonable to refer to him as the GOAT based on his statistics and his desire to perform at his very best on the largest platform. Tom Brady, though, is not particularly fond of the title “greatest of all time.”

Tom Brady being modest

I’d rather you insult me or something like that,” Brady said.

I don’t even like being called the GOAT. It makes me cringeI guess I take compliments worse than I take criticismI wish you would say, ‘You’re trash. You’re too old. You’re too slow. You can’t get it done no more.’ And I would say, ‘Thank you very much. I’m going to prove you wrong,’” Tom said.

Brady continued by saying that despite receiving harsh criticism, in the beginning, he discovered how to succeed at the top level. Brady has not always been referred to as the “GOAT.” It’s an abbreviation that also applies to athletes like Michael Phelps, Serena Williams, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, and Tiger Woods.

As for why Tom Brady himself has earned the acronym: Well, his honors and stats speak for themselves. Tom is a role model. When the Patriots originally signed him, no one would have predicted that he would go on to become one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He still has the same level of zeal to win a Super Bowl at the age of 45.
