Magic Johnson Says “Losing Scoring Title To LeBron Will Be A ‘Bitter Pill’ For Kareem”

Magic Johnson has some ideas on how LeBron James would fare if he succeeds Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time top scorer.

Magic Johnson says, “Losing Scoring Title To LeBron Will Be A ‘Bitter Pill’ For Kareem.”

How Abdul-Jabbar will react to losing the laudable record was a question Johnson was posed during a guest appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay.”

“I don’t think well,” Magic said after a laugh.

When talking about Lakers (and basketball) legends, it would be nearly difficult to leave out the names of Kareem, Magic, and LeBron. Johnson’s assessment of how Abdul-Jabbar could respond to a prospective change in his legacy may be right.

In order to surpass Abdul-Jabbar, who has held the record since April 1984, James currently needs 1,244 points.

Magic Johnson acknowledged to Sharpe that Abdul-Jabbar believed he would hold the record for most points scored for all time. James’ dominance might make things worse.

“Let’s face it… that it’s a guy playing for the Lakers as well. It’s a dude playing in L.A. Johnson stated, “I believe it will be a difficult pill to swallow.

Abdul-Jabbar is frequently unfairly disregarded in discussions about the greatest player to ever play the game, but his supporters can always point to the scoring record. He was a six-time champion and MVP whose famous “skyhook” shot was practically unbeatable.

Abdul-Jabbar, according to Johnson, probably never thought someone would reach his record of 38,387 points during the regular season.

Magic Johnson stated, “I suppose he assumed he was going to have it forever.”

Kareem & LeBron Share A Strained Kind Of Relationship

When asked about his feelings about perhaps losing Abdul-Jabbar and his friendship with him earlier this month, James raised eyebrows and gave a curt, cold response.

“No thoughts and no relationship,” James said.

Abdul-Jabbar slammed James when he argued that obtaining the COVID-19 vaccine was a personal choice. Abdul-Jabbar, like James, is an outspoken supporter of social justice concerns. James’ on-court celebrations have also been referred to as “stupid and childish” by him.

Johnson expressed his desire for the two to get along better and his optimism that this would happen in the future.

Magic Johnson stated, “I think that’s going to happen one day, and if I can play a part in that, I would love to.”

“But let him go by him first. Put the two men together after letting that sink in for a moment because they will discover they are similar.”
