Luka Doncic Crosses NBA Legend Magic Johnson as He Record His 50th Triple Double

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, with Dallas well on its way to a blowout in the first of two games against depleted Denver, Luka Doncic pleaded with Jason Kidd to continue playing. Kidd compiled for further reasons. Friday night’s 127-99 victory over the Nuggets marked the milestone, and a member of the Dallas public relations team informed Doncic of his accomplishment.

The only other players to accomplish 50 triple-doubles at age 23 or younger are Doncic, 23, and Oscar Robertson.

Luka Doncic is leading the NBA in scoring for the Dallas Mavericks and is off to an incredible start. In dominating the Nuggets without Nikola Jokic, Doncic ended with 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Luka Doncic passes Magic Johnson with 50 triple-doubles in fewer games

One more rebound was all that was required for Luka Doncic to surpass Magic Johnson, who reached the mark after 279 games, by one game. With 50 triple-doubles in 278 games, Doncic has cemented his place in NBA history, while Robertson, who achieved the feat in 111 games, will probably always hold the top spot.

Luka Doncic, who was selected third overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, has already been left off the list of the top 75 players of all time, and he’s only just getting started. Doncic needed one rebound to surpass Magic Johnson’s record of 50 career triple-doubles by one game, but neither the Mavericks’ top player nor his coach was aware of this.

On the all-time list, luminaries like Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, Wilt Chamberlain, and Larry Bird are among those that come before Doncic. James Harden, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, and Russell Westbrook are the more active players on the list.
