The Los Angeles Chargers announced the precise day and hour of their games in New Orleans when they finalized their preseason schedule on Thursday.

How did the Los Angeles Chargers fare last season?

The Los Angeles Chargers played their home games at SoFi Stadium for the second consecutive season in 2021, which marked the team’s first season under head coach Brandon Staley. The season was also the team’s 62nd overall, sixth in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and 52nd in the National Football League (NFL).

After a Week 18 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders, they improved upon their 7-9 season from the year 2019, ending 9-8 but just missing the playoffs for the third straight year. When a draw would have qualified both teams for the playoffs, they were defeated in that game by a field goal with seconds remaining in overtime.

Los Angeles started the season strong, going 4-1, but during the final twelve games, they were only 5-7. The Chiefs and Bengals, who played in the AFC Championship Game at the end of the season, were defeated on the road. The Chargers frequently passed up punts or field goals in favor of going for it on fourth down under Staley’s aggressive offensive strategy. And with 22 out of 34 attempts, they established a record for the most 4th down conversions in a season. After unsuccessful attempts in overtime losses to the Chiefs and Raiders, Staley’s mindset came under fire.

Los Angeles Chargers Preseason 2022 Fixtures

The Chargers’ first two preseason games, which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13th, at 7 p.m., were revealed the same evening the 2022 schedule was released. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, will play the Cowboys. PT. The Chargers’ third preseason game in New Orleans versus the Saints has been set and will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. after acting as the home team during weeks 1 and 2.
