Lee Hodges Receives High Praise from Minneapolis Star Tribune After PGA Victory

American professional golfer Lee Hodges competes on the PGA Tour. In July 2023, he won the 3M Open for the first time on the PGA Tour.

In 2014, Hodges won the Alabama 4A individual state championship as a senior at Ardmore High School.

Hodges attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for two years, where he earned two first-team All-Conference USA honors and the 2015 Freshman of the Year award. After the 2015–16 campaign, he changed schools and played for the 2016–17 and 2017–18 campaigns at the University of Alabama.

He earned two victories as a senior and was selected to the Ping All-America third team and the All-SEC first team, both times with partner Davis Riley from Alabama. The team finished second at the 2018 NCAA Division I tournament.

Someone who works at the Minneapolis Star Tribune is severely disillusioned with their position.

Lee Hodges triumphed in the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in the Minneapolis suburbs over the weekend by a commanding seven strokes, but the person in charge of the neighborhood newspaper’s cellphone alerts was not overjoyed about the achievement.

A mobile alert from the source read, “Golfer no one has ever heard of blows out no-name competition at Minnesota’s PGA Tour event.”

It must have been promptly detected by someone at the Tribune because a second alert was sent out with the following message: “Lee Hodges completes wire-to-wire victory at 3M Open, winning by seven shots (re-sent to correct headline).”

The Post has contacted the Star Tribune to inquire about any possible explanations for what transpired.

His career earnings, which are currently $3.6 million, increased by more than 50% as a result of the purse.

Hodges entered the competition as an 80-1 outsider.

“The process I went through, I’ll take this week forever,” Hodges said after the victory. “I’ll just try to keep replicating this week every time I show up to a tournament.”

Martin Laird, Kevin Streelman, J.T. Poston, Dylan Wu, Keith Mitchell, Sam Ryder, Tony Finau, Aaron Baddeley, Cameron Davis, Sam Stevens, and Emilio Grillo were other golfers on the leaderboard at the 3M Open.
