“LeBron After Five Years Was…”: NBA Analyst Makes Huge Luka Doncic Claim on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Record

With one second left in regulation, Luka Doncic purposefully missed a free shot, recovered the lost ball, and, while falling down, flipped it into the hoop. After a fast roll, he leapt back onto his feet and, furiously flailing his hands up and down, began a celebratory, spontaneous dance. A second later, the buzzer rang, and Doncic proceeded to celebrate by pumping his hands in the air and dancing up the sideline.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is losing ground to LeBron James in the race for the scoring record all-time. Some people have questioned if he can retain that desired record after retiring due to his incredibly long lifespan.

On his podcast, Bill Simmons discussed potential opponents for “King James” to eventually take the scoring title.

Bill Simmons feels Luka Doncic can cross LeBron James

“He’s [Doncic] over 8,000 points now. He’s 23 years old. By the end of this season, he’ll be pretty close to 10,000, assuming he doesn’t get hurt. LeBron, after five years, was 10,689.”

“He had had two first-team All-NBAs, two second-teams. Luka already has three first-team All-NBAs. Man, LeBron better keep playing. Don’t wrap it up after you get to 38,000 ’cause I don’t know what Luka is capable of.”

After scoring 60 points against the New York Knicks the other night, Luka Doncic has accumulated 8,038 points. This season, he has 32 games and 1,076 points. Doncic’s final two seasons saw him finish with 1,830 and 1,847. Any of those figures will be completely destroyed if he stays healthy.

When the season is through, he ought to be closer to 10,000 points. Doncic then put the finishing touches on a stat line never ever seen in the NBA — 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists — to help the Mavericks defeat the New York Knicks by an unlikely score of 126-121.
