The Raiders qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2016 last term. Rich Bisaccia, the interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, became the first interim head coach since Bruce Arians in 2012 to guide his club to the postseason. With a 10-7 record, the Raiders earned the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs. However, their campaign ended with a 26-19 defeat in the Wild Card round to the eventual AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals, extending their postseason winless streak to 19 years.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (selected in 2020) and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (drafted in 2014) made their first-ever postseason starts in this game. Since the 2003 AFC Championship, neither the Raiders nor the Bengals have won a postseason match.

Despite having 385 more total yards than the Bengals (308), the Raiders had the ball for three more minutes. The Raiders gained 103 yards on the ground throughout the game while Carr completed passes for 310 yards, one score, and one interception. After a turbulent season, the Raiders’ season was finished with a defeat, leaving them uncertain going forward.
