Larry Ogunjobi with the Steelers is a funny sight

Do you know when life gives you one of those funny moments? Larry Ogunjobi is probably feeling awkward right now. The defensive lineman just signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the Cincinnati Bengals failed to get him back, and now they’ll have to see him dominating in the same division. Ogunjobi was drafted by the Cleveland Browns, played with the Bengals and now landed with the Steelers.

I wanted to mention the Cleveland Browns specifically because Ogunjobi never used his talent to the full extent there, hence why the team let him go after his rookie contract was up. The Bengals enjoyed a great season with him, and the Steelers just saw Stephon Tuitt announce his retirement. On paper, it made sense to sign him, right?

Well… let’s rewind the clock.

Remember when Myles Garrett thought that it would be a good idea to use Mason Rudolph‘s helmet as a weapon and attack him in the middle of a primetime game? Well, I’m sure you do. What you might not remember is that, while the Steelers’ players were all punching Garrett on the ground, Ogunjobi, who’s Garrett’s best friend, pushed Rudolph from behind. The quarterback fell to the ground.

I’d pay an absurd amount of money to see Ogunjobi walking into the locker room and meeting Rudolph as a teammate. Seriously, I’d love to see this scene because it’s the most awkward thing ever. Ogunjobi will practice with Rudolph and he might even hit him during practices. After THAT fight, especially, signing Ogunjobi is a funny thing to see.

All things aside, and considering that all sides moved on, it’s a great sign by Pittsburgh. Ogunjobi can not only defend the run but he developed some nice traits as a pass rusher as well. With his quality, he’s going to demand some attention from opposing defenses, and that should help Cameron Hayward even more.

Rudolph and Ogunjobi are all set to become free agents after the 2022 season, so we might not see anything about a new fight. It’s just a fun story.
