Lane Johnson heaps praise on fellow Eagles teammate Jalen Hurts, says QB’s growth has been ‘admirable’
Lane Johnson will have served as the Philadelphia Eagles‘ starting tackle for the entire 2022 season. He has protected a wide range of quarterbacks. Jalen Hurts, the team’s current quarterback, has shown promise in 19 starts since displacing Carson Wentz in 2020, but he is still improving as a thrower. Johnson believes that Hurts is addressing that growth in a way that is admirable.
“He simply exudes elegance in everything he does. I mean, he demands respect,” Johnson said in an NFL Total Access interview with MJ Acosta-Ruiz. “Simply the way he conducts daily tasks, his training regimen, and his activities in the film room. He’s also a terrific motivator.”

He added, “He is a fantastic leader. Even in the summer, (he’s) really connecting with a lot of the folks behind the scenes. many receivers are playing 7 on 7. just carrying the routine preparations. I know he is eager to go to work and is also pleased about the new players we have brought in via the offseason’s draught and acquisitions.”

As the start of the season approaches, interest in those recent additions Johnson indicated, highlighted by cornerback James Bradberry on the defensive and wide receiver A.J. Brown on the offensive side, has grown. Running back Miles Sanders stated last week that he feels like he is a member of an all-star team.
When asked about the growing buzz, Johnson took care to offer a more sober assessment, although he did recognize Philadelphia’s talent infusion.
When it comes down to it, Johnson advised approaching each day with a combative mentality. “Teams may easily defeat you when you look too far ahead and fail to stay in the present. You are vulnerable to defeat. Focus is therefore the name of the game. Yes, I agree that our roster is excellent, but ultimately, we still need to go play.”
Whether an all-star squad or not, Philly has put the tools in place to support Hurts’ success after a rocky 2021 season.
The third-year quarterback completed 3,144 passes for 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season. He also ran for 784 yards and 10 more scores. His movement will continue to be a problem for opposing teams, but the combination of Dallas Goedert, DeVonta Smith, and Antonio Brown is among the best in the league.
