Lakers’ Star LeBron James Responds To Jerry West’s Dog-Wolf Take

NBA great Jerry West hasn’t participated in a professional basketball game in a while. West, one of the first superstars in the league, was among the finest in his day, and by the time he departed in 1974, his reputation had already been cemented in history.

West demonstrated in a video that went viral how fiercely competitive he was, even going so far as to refer to himself as a wolf. Even the star of the current Lakers team, LeBron James, couldn’t help but respond to the viral video.

West spoke on NBA CONvos this weekend and spoke about the kind of competitiveness he brought to the game.

“I was not afraid. And today…the word ‘dog’ comes up a lot. ‘That guy’s a dog.’ Well, I was a wolf. I used to eat dogs,” West said.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ current superstar, LeBron James, is a huge Jerry West fan, and he fervently backed what another one of the team’s best players had to say on stage.

“FACTS!!! Not 1 lie said!” James tweeted in response to West.

Jerry West played with the Lakers for the entirety of his 14-year career, and it’s true that he was a very different player during that period.

In his debut season, West never had a scoring average below 10, tallying 17.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. That was the only time he averaged less than 20 points a game, and it was also his lowest scoring performance. He is averaging 30.8 points per game in his second season on 44.5 percent shooting.

He has been an All-Star his whole career and has also won the scoring and assist titles, been named MVP of the NBA Finals, and been named MVP of the All-Star Game. West did, in fact, go on to win the NBA title in 1972.

West undoubtedly has every right in the world to claim that he is a wolf amid a pack of dogs in the NBA given his illustrious career.
