Lakers legend LeBron James surpasses Magic Johnson on list of all-time NBA assists
Another day, another LeBron James feat in the NBA. On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar overtook Magic Johnson to become the sixth-highest assist-getter in the league. James and the Lakers took down the Milwaukee Bucks to get a much-needed win and potentially get them on a string of victories.
What NBA record did LeBron James achieve?
James finished the game with 11 assists and took his tally to 10,142 assists in the NBA. He now is trailing only John Stockton (15,806), Jason Kidd (12,091), Chris Paul (11,071), Steve Nash (10,335), and Mark Jackson (10,334) on the NBA’s career assists leaderboard.

While speaking to reporters after his incredible achievement, LeBron spoke to reporters to reveal his delight at passing Magic Johnson on the assists chart. He said, “It means a lot, obviously. The way Magic approached the game, was very infectious. His teammates loved playing with him because of the joy he played with and the ability to pass the ball and get other guys involved. He was always excited about seeing his teammates be great. I always admired that in him.”

More so, LeBron is now also in touching distance of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. LeBron is still 936 points behind the Celtics icon but is quickly catching up and if he continues to perform at the same level, he should be able to surpass Abdul-Jabbar before the end of the season.
LeBron James has officially passed Magic Johnson for the 6th most assists of all-time.
