Lakers G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (quad) out for Game 4
Los Angeles Lakers starting guard Kentavuous Caldwell-Pope was ruled of Game 4 of the Western Conference first-round series against the Phoenix Suns with a quadriceps contusion.
Lakers forward Anthony Davis was listed as questionable for Game 4 after he sprained his left knee in Game 3, but he will play Sunday.
Caldwell-Pope, who came away with his injury during Game 3 on Thursday, underwent an MRI Saturday that revealed no structural damage near his left knee. He worked out on the court in advanced of Sunday’s game before the Lakers announced he would not play.
The Suns also have their issues at guard with Chris Paul considered a game-time decision with a shoulder injury that happened in Game 1 of the series. Paul played in both Games 2 and 3.
Caldwell-Pope, 28, scored 9.7 points per game during the regular season with 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists. In three games of the current series, he has averaged 4.0 points with 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists.
