Lakers’ Darvin Ham Warns Mike Malone Post “Lakers Daddy” Comment
After his team’s dominant sweep of Los Angeles in the Western Conference Finals, Nuggets coach Michael Malone spoke extensively about the Lakers. And it looks like Lakers coach Darvin Ham has listened to both his opponent coach and his team quite a bit.
Malone was presented to the Denver audience as the “Lakers’ Daddy” as the fans and the players enjoyed the procession.

Vic Lombardi, a Nuggets announcer, referred to Mike Malone, the team’s head coach, as the “Lakers daddy” during the parade following the Nuggets’ championship victory.
After Haynes said, “I guess you can talk when you win a championship,” Ham responded with a one-liner that will probably remain with Lakers supporters far into the next season.

Ham is prepared for a rematch after seeing that.
NBA writers Marc Stein and Chris Haynes spoke with them on an episode of the #thisleague UNCUT podcast, and Ham had a strong response to Haynes’ remarks regarding the Nuggets’ postseason celebrations.
“Oh, wow. You’re gonna bring up Money Mike, man? The Lakers’ daddy? That’s what they call him now? The Lakers’ daddy? God bless his soul. This s—t ain’t over. God bless his soul,” Ham said.

People forget that the Lakers were the No. 7 seed entering the Western Conference Finals. They defeated the reigning champion Golden State Warriors and the No. 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies. Although the season ended in a sweep at the hands of the Nuggets, Los Angeles did better than expected.
As a result, this upcoming season, there will be even bigger expectations in Lakers Land. Ham seems prepared for the task.
