L.A County DA Not Charging Former Dodgers Julio Urias With Felony
After arresting former Dodger pitcher Julio Urias on suspicion of domestic abuse, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office decided on Tuesday not to file felony charges against him. The office stated in its charge-evaluation worksheet that “neither the victim’s injuries nor the defendant’s criminal history justify a felony filing.”
For misdemeanour filing reasons, the case will now be transferred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

Following a LAFC soccer match, an eyewitness witnessed Urias and his wife getting into a violent argument in the parking lot of BMO Stadium. After posting $50,000 bond, Urias was freed the next morning.
The footage that shows Urias fighting with his wife outside of BMO Stadium was obtained by the Los Angeles Police Department. Witnesses described the argument in detail, mentioning that Urias pulled his wife’s hair and threw her against a fence.
Before making a decision about a possible ban, Major League Baseball, which conducted its own independent investigation into the event, is probably going to wait to hear rules from the city attorney’s office.

Urias is facing his second accusation of domestic abuse, which stems from an incident in 2019 that resulted in the pitcher being suspended by MLB. After his most recent arrest, three days later, MLB put Urias on its administrative list.
Urias will now have to go before the league’s joint policy board, which has the authority to suspend him indefinitely. Trevor Bauer was suspended by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for 324 games in 2021 due to his suspected involvement in a sexual assault case.
Before the incident, Urias was expected to receive a contract for more than $200 million on the open market as a young free agent with less experience. Now, his MLB career appears to be seriously jeopardized, even in the absence of a criminal conviction.

Is Julio Urias good?
To delve more into Julio’s 2022 campaign, he finished fourth in the league with a 17-7 record. He led the league in hits per nine innings (6.53), while his 0.96 WHIP placed him sixth. Despite the numerous statistics I just mentioned, Urias has not been selected for an All-Star squad. It may sound absurd, but this is real.
