Kyrie Irving Makes A Silent Donation Of $22,000 To A College Student In Need
Nets player Kyrie Irving, who is renowned for his charity, gave $22,000 to Howard University to help a young student stay there. His generosity was carried out quietly and without fanfare, as is his habit, and his camp declined to comment.

Destiny Thompson, a New Jersey native majoring in civil engineering with a concentration in mathematics, started a GoFundMe campaign to raise the $6,000 she needed to pay the historically black school’s tuition. Irving, a West Orange, New Jersey native and fellow New Jerseyan, gave $22,000 on Monday.
Thompson, who appeared to be at work at Walmart, posted a video on Facebook not long after that
‘I want to say thank you 1,000 times for blessing me like this Mr. Kyrie Irving,’ she said.

‘I really don’t know. I’m in shock still. I’m at work wiping down registers. I cried just a lot of tears. I’m at work, y’all. I don’t understand, like, I can’t really wrap my head around how like generous people can be.
‘I am so thankful for everybody that shared it, everybody that had liked, commented and gave me encouraging words, and just kind of helped me keep going and essentially.
‘I’m just so, so happy, and I’m so thankful. I never thought in a million years that anybody would give me anything, and I’m so super grateful.’

Since being reinstated following his eight-game suspension, Irving has performed admirably.
Brooklyn has gone 10-3 as a result of Irving’s 24.1 points per game average in the 12 games played since his suspension.
The Nets are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 17-13 after a turbulent offseason.
