Kyrie Irving Hides Nike’s Trademark Post Severing Of Their Deal

Kyrie Irving, a shoe-free agent, used Wednesday night’s Brooklyn Nets game to promote his status.

Two days after Nike severed its ties with him, Kyrie Irving toyed with tape over the insignia on his black sneakers.

“I AM FREE Thank you, I AM, God “during the Nets’ 122-116 victory against Charlotte, was scrawled on the sneakers in gold marker. “Logo here,” it said in the reverse.

In his strongest performance since serving his suspension, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving torched the Charlotte Hornets for 33 points as his team defeated them 122-116 at Barclays Center. It has been a difficult few weeks for Irving.

This week, Irving was also released by Nike, ending his association with the company that produced seven signature sneakers bearing his name while they were a partnership. Irving missed eight games after sending a link to an anti-semitic documentary on Twitter.

Nike issued a statement saying, “At Nike, we think there is no place for hate speech and we condemn any kind of antisemitism. The situation and its effects on everyone leave us very depressed and disappointed.

On Wednesday night, Kyrie Irving hit the court in a pair of his Kyrie 3 sneakers despite no longer being affiliated with the company, covering the Nike swoosh with black tape and adding his own handwritten inscription.

Following the Nike statement, the 30-year-old posted a similar remark on Twitter.

After that, he sent out a tweet to his followers saying, “Anyone who has even spent their hard-earned money on anything I have ever produced, I consider you FAMILY and we are forever bonded. It’s time to demonstrate our community’s strength.

Uncertainty surrounds the future of the shoe-free agency, but Nike has moved quickly to fill the void. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Ja Morant, a talented player for the Memphis Grizzlies, will soon receive a new pair of signature Nike sneakers.
