Murray, 25, tore his ACL, which ended his 2022 NFL season. During Arizona’s Week 14 “Monday Night Football” game against the New England Patriots, the Cardinals’ star quarterback was hurt during the first quarter and had to be replaced by seasoned Colt McCoy.

Murray’s injury was not brought on by a rival. In actuality, the rip that appeared after rolling to his right was caused by non-contact. The fact that Murray’s Cardinals teammates lost the game 13–27 only served to compound Murray’s woes.

Although it’s uncertain whether Murray will recover in time for Week 1, the quarterback has recorded a positive post-operation injury exercise in which he is carrying a substantial load. The strongest sign of Murray’s readiness for a comeback to action will be how well he runs and cuts.

He will enter a new atmosphere upon his return since the Cardinals underwent significant adjustments while he was away. Kliff Kingsbury, the team’s head coach, was fired, and general manager Steve Keim took over.

Jonathan Gannon, a former Eagles defensive coordinator, has been named head coach, while Monti Ossenfort has been named general manager. Murray’s contract no longer includes a homework provision after it was altered in response to criticism. Murray was required under the condition to devote at least four hours per week to studying game-related information alone and without interruption.

He threw for 3,359 yards with 14 touchdowns to seven interceptions. Injuries slowed down his season.

The 25-year-old quarterback signed a five-year $230.5 million contract last offseason, which made him the third-highest-paid player at his position ($46.1 million annually). Murray is a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, ’21) and the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He totaled 13,648 passing yards, 104 total touchdowns and 40 interceptions across his four-year, 55-game career.
