Knicks Might Trade In For This Injured Star From Pelicans

In 2022-23, the New York Knicks had one of their most successful seasons in recent memory. After signing free agent Jalen Brunson, they ended with a top-five record in the Eastern Conference and upset the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Playoffs despite not having a homecourt advantage. They’re hoping to carry that momentum into this season.

Knicks Might Trade In For This Injured Star From Pelicans

While the Knicks have a good squad, they have lacked a great superstar to build around. This summer, the Knicks have allegedly been linked to every possible superstar, from Damian Lillard to James Harden. According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, another name the Knicks have been linked to in a trade is New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson.

“New Orleans is still not sold on Zion Williamson,” stated Berman on the Knicks Recap Podcast. “There is obviously a risk there.” This season, all eyes are on him. I was told that the Knicks inquired about Zion throughout the offseason. That might be an option.”

“Listen, Zion is a mystery.” It’s all about his injuries, health, and weight, yet he’s magnificent. Adam Silver would be dancing and performing cartwheels if Zion was in New York,” Berman added.

Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report revealed in July that Williamson might be obtained for the right price. The Pelicans were thought to be interested in the No. 3 selection, Scoot Henderson. But they stuck by Williamson.

Since the Pelicans selected him first overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson hasn’t exactly been the most durable superstar. He has only played more than 29 games once in his four seasons in the NBA, and he missed the whole 2021-22 season due to injuries.

When he’s been healthy, he’s played like a generational talent. Prior to his injury, the Pelicans were in contention for the top record in the Western Conference. It remains to be seen whether the Pelicans have seriously considered trading Zion Williamson to the Knicks or whether this is all a ruse.
