Kirk Herbstreit Calls Out Florida State Fans, Calls Them “Conspiracy Theorists”

As the No. 4 team in the College Football Playoff rankings going into conference championship weekend, the Florida State Seminoles were guaranteed a postseason berth. This was one week after they used their backup quarterback to overcome Florida on the road. Amongst all this Florida State fans criticised Kirk Herbstreit to which he went full offence mode.

Despite this, the Seminoles, who finished at No. 5 in the ACC Championship after dominating Louisville, were left out of the final playoff rankings.

This disrupted the news cycle, and Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN was at the forefront of the discussion since he was so determined to keep the Seminoles out of the postseason. Naturally, Florida State supporters who were incensed that their squad was left off chastised Herbstreit.

Following Jordan Travis’ injury, the ESPN personality was among the loudest advocates for Florida State to be excluded from the playoffs, and the committee acted accordingly.

A team with one defeat, Alabama, was chosen for the fourth position in the field ahead of the ACC champion FSU Seminoles, who were 13-0.

The world of college football was set ablaze by the judgment. People have legitimate reasons to be furious. How is a P5 squad that is unbeaten kept out? Undoubtedly, there is cause for fury, and a great deal of that anger has been aimed at Herbstreit.

The “conspiracy theory” in question is that supporters think ESPN chose Alabama over Florida State because of the Southeastern Conference’s broadcast agreement.

Herbstreit is starting to act as though he is the target of unjust criticism while Florida State supporters are blamed for a comprehensive “conspiracy theory.” Even yet, Herbstreit expressed his support for Mike Norvell, saying that Norvell was one of the few who helped him be hired.

“I love him, I love him,” Herbstreit said of Norvell. “People were trying to hire Prime because they didn’t think Mike Norvell was the answer. I was the guy that was pumpin’ up Mike Norvell, saying he is the answer, give him time to get this thing back up, and he’s been able to do that.”

Herbstreit acknowledged that he is a fan of Norvell but also said that he detests it for Norvell and the players.

“I feel really bad for Mike Norvell and the players,” Herbstreit continued.

No matter what assertions or remarks Herbstreit makes, Florida State supporters will always be with him in the center of the discussion following their beloved team’s 13-0 Power Five record being eliminated in the postseason.

How much does Kirk Herbstreit make?

In the arrangement, Herbstreit is reportedly making $4 million a season, which is quadruple his pay as an ESPN college commentator. Herbstreit’s tenure at ESPN was not terminated by his new affiliation with Amazon, as the latter revealed a contract extension that allowed him to continue appearing on GameDay, Saturday Night Football, and their NFL Draft coverage.
