While Khamzat Chimaev did establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in 2020 with his UFC debut, in 2022, he answered a lot of questions fans as well as pundits had about his abilities after fighting only once in 2021. Khamzat Chimaev took on the likes of Gilbert Burns and Kevin Holland and secured impressive wins albeit of extremely different types to further cement his position as a legitimate talent.

However, since his win over Kevin Holland in September last year, Chimaev has not fought anyone while he has been linked with a number of fighters, none of which have ultimately come to fruition.

Khamzat Chimaev shares the problem

In a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, Khamzat Chimaev shared his thoughts on why he is not being able to book a fight at the moment. He said, “Everyone wants to call out me now. When I call out them before, when I was before famous, nobody wanted to fight me at that time. Nobody call out me, but still they call out me and when it comes to the fight, sign the contract, in the end they had – somebody has injury, somebody has some problems. I don’t know what to find a way to come out from there.”

Khamzat Chimaev continued, “Of course, I want to fight for the title. They say after all the fight, like they said after Gilbert Burns, maybe you fight for the title. I said, okay, maybe. I didn’t trust that time. So then we try to fight Kevin Holland. After that, they say, maybe go for the title. I don’t know. This didn’t happen now, and the guys know, it’s easy fight for me, and they don’t want to give me the chance to smash that guy.”
