Kevin Durant Speaks Up On Draymond Green’s Suspension

Sadly, many NBA players have firsthand experience with Draymond Green’s volatile nature. A few prominent names that spring to mind include Steven Adams, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, Rudy Gobert, and Jordan Poole. However, Kevin Durant stands out among the others.

Kevin Durant Speaks Up On Draymond Green’s Suspension

He and Green were among the most successful players in their respective careers during their three years of team play with the Golden State Warriors. During their three seasons together, the Warriors advanced to the Finals twice and took home two titles.

But during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers early in their third season together, Durant and Green got into a verbal argument. Because of how awful the debate was, Green received a one-game suspension. Durant left the Warriors at the end of the 2018-19 season, and Green is still getting into trouble.

Green was given a five-game ban in the middle of November for forcing Rudy Gobert of Minnesota into a headlock. On Tuesday, however, things got much worse as the player was sent off for forcefully hitting Jusuf Nurkic in the face during the Warriors’ game against the Suns.

Green has been suspended indefinitely, the NBA said on Wednesday.

Via NBA Communications: “Green’s suspension will begin immediately. He will be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play.”

Three seasons as Draymond Green’s teammate, Kevin Durant, was questioned regarding the suspension and ejection (h/t Duane Rankin of central).

Durant: “Yeah, that was insane to see. Glad Nurk is all alright. Never seen that before on a basketball court, in an NBA game. I hope Draymond gets the help he needs. It’s been incident after incident. I know Draymond; he hasn’t been that way when I was around him and coming into the league. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs and gets back on the court and puts all this stuff behind him.”

Green has now had three ejections this season along with a five-game suspension. He has been ejected 19 times in his career, and it doesn’t seem like the league will continue to give him the finger wags. It is said that Green will receive therapy in an effort to stop such situations from happening in the future.

In 38 minutes of action on Wednesday, Durant ended with 27 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal, two blocks, and a shooting percentage of 9/18 from the field and 1/5 from three pointers.

How much does KD average in 2023?

In 47 games in 2022–2023, Kevin Durant averaged 29.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.

Why is Kevin Durant not playing?

Due to a sprained left ankle, Durant has missed the last two games. It is unclear if he will be able to participate when the Nets and the visiting Suns meet on Wednesday night. Durant was ruled out of the Suns’ 119-116 home victory against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday following an ankle exam.
