Kevin Durant reveals why he ‘hated’ it when the Warriors won the NBA championship in 2022
Kevin Durant always seems to grab the limelight with his exciting takes. The two-time NBA champion recently claimed that he hated the time when the Golden State Warriors won NBA champions earlier this year. However, it’s not for reasons that you’d expect.
Yes, Durant did play for the Warriors for three seasons and had success with the team before their acrimonious split in 2019. He won back-to-back titles with Golden State but believes that despite their victory over the years, fans always seem to make news about him.

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Durant admitted that he didn’t want any of the focus to be on himself when the Warriors earned their fourth title in seven years. The 34-year-old said, “I can’t lie: Watching the Finals, I knew so many people would turn their focus on me once they won. I was like, I hate that they won, because y’all not going to make it about them; it’s going to be all about me. I think it’s just a childish way of looking at that experience. I feel like you can take it all in and appreciate what they and not even talk about me. I was just sitting at home. But I get how it is,”
Durant’s split from the Warriors was much-talked-about at the time and continues to be discussed by many today as well. However, he will now suit up for the Brooklyn Nets when he will face his former Golden State team on Tuesday night.
