John Calipari, the basketball coach for Kentucky, may want to reconsider his interview etiquette after he engaged ESPN’s Holly Rowe in an extremely bizarre interview.

Kentucky’s John Calipari Grabs ESPN Reporter Holly Rowe By The Shoulders, Makes It Very Uncomfortable

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team defeated No. 5 Tennessee on the road 63-56 on Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak for the Wildcats.

Rowe began to ask Calipari a question on the Wildcats’ game plan during a mid-game interview, but the veteran coach cut her off by placing his hands on her shoulders.

Later, he sought to convey whatever it was he was trying to say regarding Kentucky’s Saturday away game against Tennessee by rephrasing the situation as a statement rather than an answer.

“Many times. Hold on “said Calipari. “many times Are there three open shots that we missed?”

“You did,” Rowe responded.

“That’s why we’re down 8-0, not what we’re running and all that,” Calipari said, removing his hands from Rowe’s person as he said it. A few moments later, he placed his right hand on Rowe’s shoulder as he finished his answer.

Kudos to Rowe for handling an unpleasant circumstance in a mature manner. After the event, neither she nor Calipari spoke about it on air. Rowe, Calipari, or Kentucky have not commented on the subject since the game, with the exception of a few social media users.

Calipari and Rowe are friendly, but there was no need for a curiously awkward situation when the Kentucky coach interrupted Rowe and made physical contact with him while doing so.

Due to Kentucky’s impressive victory over the Vols in Knoxville, Calipari’s job may not be as hot as it once was.

Due to Kentucky’s disastrous season, his employment situation has been the focus of significant discussion in Lexington. But anyone can buy some time by outlasting a title contender like Tennessee.

Coach Cal’s postgame interview seemed to make things even odd.
