Kentucky Basketball Team Had Practice Session At Rapper Drake’s Mansion In Canada

Finding practice spaces in Canada wasn’t too tough for the University of Kentucky basketball team.

The group is in Canada to compete in the 2023 GLOBAL JAM showcase competition as the U.S. team’s representation. Fortunately for them, one of their most ardent supporters lives in Canada.

Rapper Drake secretly gave the Wildcats access to his Toronto property so they could train and hang out there for the day.

As part of their preseason vacation to Canada, the Wildcats held a courtside practice inside the rapper’s opulent Toronto house on Friday. Calipari even shared a video of the players lounging by the pool on Twitter while the 64-year-old coach joked, “I ain’t going in.”

“Alright, we’re at Drake’s,” Calipari said in the video. “Relaxing. Really wish you were with us.”

Kentucky had a 22-12 overall record in the previous season. They received a No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament as a result. In the first round, they were able to defeat Providence, but round two saw Kansas State defeat them, ending their impressive run.

With players like No. 1 overall prospect D.J. Wagner, Justin Edwards, Aaron Bradshaw, and Robert Dillingham among its outstanding freshmen classes Kentucky.

Drake has long been a supporter of the Wildcats, rapping in 2015’s “Scholarship” that he “rock[s] Kentucky blue.” He even participated in a team warmup in 2014, memorably air-balling a three-point attempt.

John Calipari and Drake, whose actual name is Aubrey Graham, have a history of friendship. While Drizzy was out on tour with his “It’s All A Blur” album, Drizzy recruited the group to keep his house busy.

Instead, before appearing for a team portrait, players rehearsed flips and pool leaps at Drake’s estate.

And within the 50,000-square-foot building, which was, according to CNN, created by Ferris Rafauli, is a regulation-sized basketball court.

Despite Drake not being at the estate and instead touring, another video showed the Wildcats shooting hoops on the floor with the owl emblem from his October’s Very Own clothing line in the centre.
