Kelce Brothers Are Absolute Fans Of NFL Flexing Thursday Night Football

The notion of stretching out Thursday Night Football games has reportedly only stirred much debate. The Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast, which is available on YouTube, recently had a discussion about the effects of Thursday games being flexible.

After TNF expansion discussions got heated, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle gave a terrible account of playing in a football game. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has made it clear that he opposes flexible Thursday game times. And following the formal announcement of the plans, writer Charles Curtis wrote on how flexing Thursday matchups—along with more Thursday games in general—will be utterly detrimental to everyone.

Two of the first NFL players to really campaign for more Thursday Night Football are Jason and Travis Kelce, the twin All-Pro siblings who play for the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.

Jason and Travis Kelce aren’t among the many NFL players who don’t like Thursday Night Football, despite the fact that there are a lot of them. On the most recent edition of their podcast, New Heights, the two stated their position on TNF games and stated that they’d like more games on Thursdays.

Despite the criticism it has received since being implemented last week, the Kelce brothers support the new rule, which permits Thursday night games between Weeks 13 and 17 to be flexed with 28 days notice.

“As we’ve talked about before, I’m a huge fan of the Thursday Night game,” Jason Kelce said on the New Heights podcast. “Listen, I am all for games being played on Thursdays because that means we have walkthroughs during the middle of the week and we don’t practice. Then we get three days off after the game.”

“I’m a huge fan of them even later in the season, too,” Travis Kelce said.

Additionally, Jason Kelce claimed that some athletes simply oppose Thursday Night Football matches to “make headlines.”

It’s important to note that in 2023, Jason Kelce will begin his 13th NFL season, while Travis Kelce will start his 10th. The Kelces are likely to advocate getting extra rest more than some of the younger players in the league because they are seasoned veterans.
