Kayvon Thibodeaux injury: What happened to the New York Giants rusher?

As he gets preparing for his first season, the top choice of the New York Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft is already suffering from an injury. According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Kayvon Thibodeaux, the fifth overall selection in this year’s Draft, has a “tweaked hip.”

Thibodeaux, a great pass rusher for the Giants who is anticipated to have a quick and substantial impact, was similarly injured for a large portion of his senior year at Oregon. Although he was originally seen as a probable lock for the No. 1 overall pick, it didn’t seem to have much of an influence on his draft value.

Kayvon Thibodeaux injury update

Quick Kayvon Thibodeaux injury update: a source told Duggan that Kayvon Thibodeaux’s mysterious ailment from this spring was a “tweaked hip.” “Since it’s regarded as minor, I anticipate that he will be prepared when training camp opens. The Giants were too concerned about injuries during the spring; we’ve heard that a few players wearing “red jerseys” suffered from small wounds. Which spring injuries were more significant will be revealed at the beginning of camp.

As the Giants rebuild under new head coach Brian Daboll, Thibodeaux and Alabama’s Evan Neal, the No. 7 overall pick, are anticipated to be key players.

During his time at Oregon, Thibodeaux recorded 126 total tackles, 84 solo stops, 35.5 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, seven pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.

The Giants hope Thibodeaux will enhance their pass rush, which ranked 22nd in the league in sacks last season. With Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams lining up inside, Jihad Ward is scheduled to start opposite Thibodeaux.

“When Thibodeaux returned to practice with the Giants, he noted, “First day back felt wonderful. “I had not been a member of a team for the previous six months, so it was strange for me. After arriving, doing walkthroughs, independent projects, and everything else, returning to the team. It was enjoyable.”

According to the 247Sports Composite, Thibodeaux was a five-star recruit out of Thousand Oaks Christian for the Class of 2019. He was the second-best weak-side defensive end in the class, the second-best prospect overall in the class, and the top overall prospect in California. Thibodeaux was rated as the 49th-best prospect overall in history.
