Unsurprisingly, the majority of the proceeds from the auction on the collectibles marketplace Goldin came from the sale of Michael Jordan’s white No. 9 jersey, which he wore during the 127-76 demolition of Lithuania in the semifinals.

The most expensive item sold was a game-used Michael Jordan jersey from the USA’s 127-76 demolition of Lithuania in the gold round; it brought in more over $3 million.

This great team, which won the gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and had a lasting impression on the game of basketball, included players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley.

The following jerseys from the Malone collection were also sold:

  • Larry Bird (360,000 dollars)
  • Magic Johnson (336,000 dollars)
  • Charles Barkley (230,400 dollars)
  • David Robinson (116,400 dollars)
  • Clyde Drexler (91,200 dollars)
  • Scottie Pippen (80,400 dollars)
  • Malone (58,800 dollars)
  • John Stockton (55,200 dollars)
  • Patrick Ewing (39,600 dollars)
  • Christian Laettner (39,600 dollars)
  • Chris Mullin (37,200 dollars).

At one of his vehicle dealerships in Utah, Malone kept the collection on display for years. When he made the decision to sell, he summoned Ken Goldin, executive chairman and creator of Goldin, a moment that was caught on Netflix’s “King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch.”

“It was truly remarkable to have been able to work with Karl Malone himself to offer this iconic collection to fans everywhere,” Goldin said. “Now a lucky few own a piece of revolutionary sports history from some of the greatest players of all time.”
