Karl-Anthony Towns’ Contract Extension at Timberwolves Would Make Devin Booker Jealous

Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves have come to terms on a four-year, $214 million supermax deal extension that will keep him in Minnesota through the 2027–2028 campaign. When he led the Timberwolves to just their second playoff berth since 2004, the former No. 1 selection in the 2015 NBA Draft was chosen to the all-NBA third team.

KAT qualified for the supermax provision thanks to the distinction. Towns shot 52.9 percent from the field and 41 percent from the 3-point range this season, averaging 24.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. To remain with their current teams, Booker and Towns just inked super-max deal extensions.

Devin Booker also agreed to a supermax deal extension for $224 million over four years. Team management is quite important at a time when stars travel about a lot. However, a team has more ability to reject a trade request or to obtain a higher return in trade the longer a player is under contract with it.

Karl-Anthony Towns gets a player option in 2027, ahead of Devin Booker (2028)

The next Collective Bargaining Agreement may limit the capacity of players to force their way out. So, for athletes of this quality, it’s never too early to consider the future. It’s remarkable that Towns’ contract terms were better than Booker’s. With Booker on the club, the Suns have fared better than Towns and the Timberwolves have.

Compared to Towns, Booker plays a more important position—shooting guard. To compensate for Towns’ defensive flaws, Minnesota had to deal a tonne of assets for Rudy Gobert. Booker has become a versatile player. Player choices can be really useful. They not only provide players the option to become free agents and depart, but they also give them the chance to re-sign with their present teams and get increased remuneration. In 2027, Towns will have alternatives that Booker will not.
