Kansas QB Jalon Daniels Shows Off “New Chain” At Big 12 Media Day That Plays His Highlights

The starting quarterback for Kansas arrived in Arlington, Texas, wearing a significant amount of jewelry.

Players have traditionally used media days, regardless of the conference, as an occasion to flaunt their flair and best outfits.

The key players are also those who will speak on behalf of their program at media days.

The quarterback is the most significant player in college football, representing the team during media days and earning the highest salary.

Last season, Jalon Daniels achieved just that as he led Kansas to its first bowl appearance since 2008. The rising senior came at AT&T Stadium with his satin suit and tie atop a pricey, diamond-encrusted cuban link chain.

Even while the chain alone would have been amazing, Daniels took it a step farther. A television screen necklace that aired his highlights repeatedly hung at the end of the chain.

Daniels explained his reasoning for wearing the jewelry in a straightforward manner.

Daniels was heard saying, “Got a nice little Cuban link chain right here man,” in a video posted to the Kansas football Twitter account. “We got the piece playing the highlights because, honestly, if it wasn’t for me making a few of these plays on here, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. Just a reminder everywhere I’m walking around, this is what I do. I like to play football. I like to play quarterback and score touchdowns.”

Daniels guided Kansas (6-7, 3-6 Big 12) to its first bowl participation in 14 years last year, where they lost to Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl 55-53 after three overtimes.

Daniels passed for 2,014 yards, 18 touchdowns, and four interceptions in nine games while also rushing for 425 yards and seven additional scores. After the 2022 season, Daniels received second team All-Big 12 recognition.
