Kansas City Chiefs Signs Melvin Gordon III To Their Practice Squad
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that former Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon has joined the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs. Following the loss of his fifth fumble of the 2022 season, Gordon was released by the Broncos this past Monday.
Kansas City Chiefs Signs Melvin Gordon III To Their Practice Squad
The Chiefs would be the third AFC West team Gordon has ever played for. He was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers (then in San Diego) with the No. 15 overall pick in 2015, and then in 2020, he signed a free-agent contract with the Broncos. He had two good seasons in 2020 and 2021, with 2,275 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns.

But before the Broncos released him, the turbulent 2022 campaign put him in their bad books. Prior to being released, Melvin Gordon had accumulated 318 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 90 carries during the first 10 games of the season.
He is now a member of the Chiefs, who are competing for the top spot in the AFC playoffs. After Clyde Edwards-Helaire was placed on injured reserve before to Week 12, Gordon would share time with sixth-round rookie Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon if Kansas City elects to add Gordon to their active roster.

Melvin Gordon will play a crucial role in helping the Chiefs win glory as they are on track to make it to another Super Bowl.
Melvin Gordon outperforms every running back on head coach Andy Reid’s roster, including third-string Ronald Jones, seventh-round rookie Isiah Pacheco, and veteran Jerick McKinnon.

His difficulties with the Broncos may be attributed to the messiness of the team, especially with Russell Wilson as a quarterback.
Gordon will excel once he joins the dominant Kansas City offence and finally wins a Super Bowl.
Don’t sleep on “Flash Gordon,” even if he has been a fumble machine this season.
