Justin Gaethje Makes a Startling Claim; Says Fight of the Year Against Michael Chandler Was ‘Boring’

Ever since he joined the UFC, Justin Gaethje promised the fans one thing: that he would bring violence every time he stepped in the cage. ‘The Highlight’ has never faltered on this promise and to this day continues to deliver the most entertaining and violent fights the promotion has ever put together.

In November last year, Gaethje went toe-to-toe with another deadly finisher at 155-pounds in Michael Chandler. The fight was promoted as one of the most violent fights fans would ever see, and it lived up to all the hype it had garnered. ‘The Highlight’ and ‘Iron’ delivered arguably the most entertaining and action-packed, three-round fight ever seen.

In a recent podcast with the Nelk boys, Gaethje shared his thoughts on the fight. He said, “That was boring to me. I did beat the shit out of him but, he hit me four times, but no more than that. One time was because the ref let him hit me. But yeah after three minutes in the first round, he did not touch me. Other than when I got poked in the eye and took a big shot.”

‘The Highlight’ continued, “It felt easy yeah, not easy the danger was present at all times, there is a constant risk assessment, evaluation going on internally with your intuition and I never got comfortable that I was not in danger so he was dangerous the whole time. I bring the dog out of every guy I fight. They know that there is no quit and that I am going to try and hurt them. There are a lot of different types of style but when you step in there with me no one comes out unscathed.”

Justin Gaethje says he has five more wars before he calls it quits

After his fight with Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje stated that he had about five more wars left in him before he called it time on his UFC career.

However, Gaethje believes that since then he has not been in war. While most might consider a fight against Chandler a ‘war’, Gaethje insists that it did not cause him any damage at all.
