Just days After Shock Milwaukee Bucks Trade, Damian Lillard Filed For Divorce From Kay’la
Damian Lillard and his wife Kay’La have separated.
According to the Portland-based Willamette Week, the seven-time NBA All-Star filed for divorce from his college sweetheart on October 2 – less than a week after he was dealt from the Trail Blazers to the Bucks.
The divorce petition highlighted “irreconcilable differences” that “caused the irremediable breakdown” of the partnership between the former couple.
According to People, Lillard married in September 2021 and now has three kids: son Damian Jr., 5, and twins Kalii and Kali, 2 years old.
Lillard and Kay’La first met at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and the 33-year-old point guard described how she “took care of” him to Ebony in 2021.
“She had the car, and an apartment, and bent over backward for me. Kay’La accepted me with all my flaws as a young man,” Lillard said at some point in time.
At the 2020 NBA All-Star weekend in Chicago, Lillard got down on one knee and asked Kay’La to marry him.
“I told her we were attending a new Valentine’s Day event the NBA was hosting. We showed up to the venue where I had a wall full of roses designed with ‘Will You Marry Me?’” To Ebony, he recalled.
