Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, was ordered by a judge to undergo a paternity test in order to ascertain if he is the biological father of a woman who filed a lawsuit against him last year.

Judge Orders Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones To Undergo DNA Test To Decide Paternity

The Dallas Morning News was able to get records that stated the decision was reached during a hearing earlier this month. According to court records, Alexandra Davis, 27, has stated that DNA testing has shown her mother’s ex-husband is not her father.

In a 2022 lawsuit, Davis said that Jerry was her father, claiming that Alexandra was conceived in the middle of the 1990s while Jerry and her mother, Cynthia Davis, were dating.

Jones and Cynthia, who were married at the time of their connection, came to a financial settlement in 1998 wherein Jones promised to provide for Cynthia’s needs financially in exchange for not being recognized as Alexandra’s father.

The basis for Alexandra’s current lawsuit—in which she seeks to establish through the courts that Jerry is, in fact, her father—was her belief that she is not bound by the terms of the agreement between Jones and her mother.

“Alex is in a position where she really no longer has to hide her truth or live under the thumb of fear, and maybe she’s going to finally get some peace, and we hope other families will have that same benefit from the judge following the law,” Davis’ attorney Kris Hayes said.

In 2023, Davis filed a defamation lawsuit against Jones, claiming that Jones and two other people intentionally attempted to expose her as a “extortionist” and “shakedown artist.” After being partially dismissed in October, the lawsuit was refiled in November.

The Cowboys, which the 81-year-old Jones purchased for $150 million in 1989, are currently the most valuable sports club in the world, with a $9 billion market value according to Forbes.
