More recently, 22-year-old Josh Green from Sydney, Australia was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks as the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 draft. Growing up, Green was a multi-sport athlete and by the age of 10, he had been selected to represent his home state of New South Wales in nine separate sports. However, despite being good at multiple sports, Green chose basketball and went on to play the sport competitively for local teams before moving to the United States.
In the final game of his high school career, Green led IMG to a national championship victory with a 65–55 win over La Lumiere and was subsequently named MVP of the championship game. The 22-year-old was a consensus five-star recruit and had offers from Kansas, North Carolina, Villanova, USC, and UNLV. However, Green made his choice and opted to play for the Arizona Wildcats. After two years with the team, he decided to declare for the NBA draft.
After being loaned to the Salt Lake City Stars, and Texas Legends in 2021, Green became a mainstay in the team 2022 onwards. This season both Green and the Mavericks will be hoping for better performances.
