Josh Donaldson’s Behaviour Post Joining Brewers Was Arrogant, Says Rowdy Tellez

Josh Donaldson appears to have brought the same nasty and selfish attitude to the Brewers as he did to the Yankees.

Rowdy Tellez was addressing trash-talking Donaldson on a recent Foul Territory show. Rowdy was questioned about his first meeting with Donaldson after joining the Brewers.

Rowdy Tellez, a Brewers first baseman who played with Donaldson on the Blue Jays in 2018, described how Donaldson presented himself to his new club.

“He came in the clubhouse and walked straight by, and I was like, ‘Hey,’ – along with a couple of other words after that – ‘when you walk in the clubhouse, you introduce yourself to your new teammates,” Tellez said on “Foul Territory.’ “And he goes, ‘Everybody knows who I am.’

“And then, I was like, ‘Yeah, hey, and when you see a former teammate, you say what’s up.’

“And he was like, ‘Hey, are you on the seafood diet?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, good one … See food, eat food. Beat you to it. F-k off.'”

He is notorious for being a divisive teammate, with some applauding his antics and others condemning them.

It’s one of the reasons Donaldson has played for six different clubs since 2018, despite being a good player before to joining the Yankees.

While this may have been sarcasm, Donaldson has a history of being a nasty player in the clubhouse. Donaldson and Gerrit Cole were constantly feuding before being dealt to the New York Yankees.

Before getting traded to the Yankees, Donaldson said, “Is it a coincidence that Gerrit Cole’s spin rate numbers went down after four minor leaguers got suspended for 10 games?” about Gerrit Cole, according to ESPN’s Marly Rivera.

“At the end of the day, both of us are competitors. And I respect Gerrit Cole for being a competitor,” Donaldson said.

Donaldson was released by the Yankees following a poor two-year spell in which he hit 207 with a.678 OPS in 165 games, despite playing outstanding defense at third base.

Donaldson then signed with the Brewers, who treated him like a lottery ticket in the hopes that he might offer a spark for a club in need of offensive support.

Donaldson has appeared in 12 games for the Brewers, hitting.205 with three home runs and ten RBIs. While his 108 OPS+ indicates that he is now a stronger hitter than the league average, it is still less than ideal. The Brewers have a 7-5 record in those 12 games.
