The legendary driver of Formula One Jos Verstappen, who has completed over 100 races, has talked about his surgery, saying it has “put things into perspective”.

Jos, 51, avoided the limelight following his operation while his son started a record-breaking Formula One Championship-winning campaign.

However, he has now disclosed his health problem, which the operation was able to treat.

He told Dutch outlet Formule 1: “It’s annoying that I had to have it, but it’s now resolved. Fortunately, they were able to find the problem and I now feel fit again.

“It was something that I have had all my life and was never discovered, otherwise it could have helped immediately. But you can live to be a hundred years old with it.”

Whether his son Max Verstappen wins championships or not, one’s health comes first. Jos Verstappen had a little fright earlier in 2023 when he was informed that he might need a heart procedure. Verstappen senior said to Formula 1 that he is now beyond that and feeling well.

“An operation on your heart is always exciting, you are then dependent on other people and that is never nice. Anyway, these specialists know what they are doing. That puts things into perspective and makes you appreciate things even more: I have a nice wife and two children with whom I want to do nice things for as long as possible,” Jos said.
