Jon Jones Confirms He Has Not Been Offered a Fight Yet by the UFC; Provides a Timeline for His Return This Year
For the better part of a decade, Jon Jones ruled the UFC’s light heavyweight division. ‘Bones’ finished Mauricio Rua in round 3 to become the youngest ever UFC champion at the age of 23. Since then, Jones defended his belt against one future hall-of-fame fighter after another, putting on dominant performances and further cementing his place in the GOAT debate.
After his return from suspension, ‘Bones’ secured an impressive stoppage win against Alexander Gustafsson and then followed it up with a unanimous decision win over Anthony Smith. His last two performances, however, have been mediocre, to say the least. Many believe that Jones lost the fight against Dominick Reyes when the two faced each other at UFC 247. The light heavyweight king has since not competed in the UFC and plans to move up in weight class the next time he steps into the octagon.

Jon Jones to return to an interim heavyweight title fight against Stipe Miocic?
The UFC’s heavyweight division is brimming with talent at the moment. The likes of Blaydes, Tuivasa, Aspinall, and Miocic, all make a compelling case to get the next title shot. The champion Francis Ngannou will be out for the better part of a year thanks to a knee injury that he is nursing at the moment. Therefore, the UFC will make an interim title fight as confirmed by Dana White himself.

If Jones were to return at heavyweight, an interim title between him and Stipe Miocic makes perfect sense. Both are the greatest ever in their respective division and the winner can take on the champion once he is healed up. The timeframe for Jones’ return, as stated by him, also makes perfect sense for an interim title fight.
