Joel Embiid married his long-term girlfriend and SI model, Anne de Paula, in Southampton

The biggest day of Joel Embiid’s successful year might have occurred.

The Philadelphia 76ers player, who is the 2023 NBA MVP, wed his longtime girlfriend Anne de Paula on Saturday in Southampton.

After taking pictures on Cryder Beach, the couple was married in a religious ceremony.

In 2018, there were rumors that Embiid was dating the Sports Illustrated model; these rumors were later proven.

De Paula was there to encourage the big man during one of his worst times in the league when the Philadelphia 76ers were defeated by the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 Eastern Conference finals on a Kawhi Leonard buzzer-beater.

A boy named Arthur was delivered to the couple on September 16, 2020.

“When Arthur sees him, there is no one else in the room. It is the most beautiful thing ever,” de Paula told ESPN in 2021.

Embiid wed on Long Island, but this is not the first time this year that the 7-foot center has been wed in New York.

In an earlier offseason interview, Embiid hinted that he’d like to win an NBA championship “anywhere.”

I just want to win a championship,” Embiid said.

“Whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s gonna be, whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that.”

Soon after making those remarks, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Zach Lowe hinted that the six-time All-Star might team up with the Knicks.

“I mean line up the Acela Express and send him up to New York,” On a podcast episode of Lowe’s The Lowe Post, McMenamin noted.

“That’s been what has been the murmurs. [Lowe] said New York, we’ve all heard New York, we know the connection between Leon Rose and Joel Embiid.

“We also know, quite frankly, that Daryl Morey came into a situation that was largely set up before him and he will continue to craft that team in the fashion that he wants it to look like.”

Even though Embiid doesn’t currently have an NBA championship ring, he will have one following the ceremony on Saturday.
