JJ Watt Announces Joining CBS Sports As NFL Studio Analyst
Watt, a 2011 first-round selection by Houston, was named to the All-Pro and Pro Bowl five times throughout his ten-year career with the Texans. Before announcing his retirement in December, the 34-year-old played for the Arizona Cardinals for the previous two seasons.
The 2017 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year inked a multi-year contract to work as an NFL studio commentator, according to CBS Sports. The job will start for Watt in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign.

“I love the game too much to be away from it entirely. I’m very excited to be joining CBS Sports to contribute across all their NFL shows and platforms, including working alongside and learning from JB, Coach, Boomer, Phil and Nate this fall,” said Watt. “Hopefully fans will enjoy the insights and knowledge I’ve gained over my 12 years in the NFL and if we’re lucky, we’ll share a few laughs along the way as well.”
In a press statement, Paramount acknowledged the deal. As part of his new position, Watt “will serve as an NFL studio analyst across all platforms.” Before the Week 1 games, he will make an appearance on “The NFL Today.”

Watt offers a plethora of expertise in football to the position. The first year he is eligible, he stands a good chance of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Being a successful athlete doesn’t ensure success as a broadcaster, but Watt’s already has a commanding presence in front of the camera.
CBS To Replace Tony Romo?
Tony Romo, a former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, made his CBS debut by calling plays and injecting enthusiasm into NFL broadcasts.
Romo, it seems, is no longer quite the popular figure he was a few years ago. He isn’t quite as good as he once was, too, according to NFL fans.
CBS had attempted an “intervention” with broadcaster Tony Romo in advance of the 2022 season, but things “did not get better” per @AndrewMarchand

Additionally, he is dealing with a lot of other issues in his life. He continues to strive to play golf at a very high level of competition. Additionally, there are rumors that he discussed his performance with CBS. However, they disputed that.
But anyone who has lately watched a game can tell that something is wrong.

JJ Watt is well-known. He is well-liked by NFL fans for both his skills and charitable work. Additionally, he doesn’t really rile people up politically.
That could make him a perfect eventual replacement for Romo.
