Palmer stated that in 2015, he became acquaintances with Holmes, a man posing as a British hairdresser. As time went on, Holmes grew close to both Spencer, his 27-year-old stepson with autism, and Susan, Palmer’s wife.
The bond eventually grew to such an extent that the Palmers appointed Holmes Spencer’s legal guardian and trustee in the event of their deaths.

Palmer, who played for the Orioles for 19 seasons and won 268 games, alleges that Warren Michael Holmes deceived him by posing as a “successful British hair stylist” in order to get loans of $985,000 from the 78-year-old Palmer and his wife, Susan, to launch a line of cosmetics.
Holmes has not been served, but the initial court date is set on February 22.
Palmer claims that in November 2018, he and his spouse gave Holmes a $750,000 loan to establish Love Brands, a holding company for his cosmetics. Palmer estimated that Holmes had not paid back any amount of the debt after around four years.
At that point, the Hall of Famer gave Holmes an additional $235,000 loan in an attempt to launch the business and generate revenue.

Palmer claims that in March of last year, Holmes requested an extra $2.5 million, but Palmer turned him down and demanded repayment for the earlier loans. Palmer claims that he has still not received payment, and the family is still unaware of Holmes’ whereabouts.
Additionally, according to the complaint, Holmes cultivated a bond with Palmer’s 27-year-old stepson Spencer, who has autism, in order to facilitate the family’s integration.
I’m not saying (it gives you) the right to steal a million dollars. But the bottom line is, emotionally, physically, we helped him. We funded the money to supposedly realize his dream, to allow him to be what he wanted to be. And then he just disappeared.”
