Irsay was receiving treatment for a serious respiratory ailment, according to a statement made by the Colts on January 9. He was admitted to the hospital; however, it is not known if he has since been released.
All of this happened soon after Irsay was discovered unconscious in his house early on December 8 in what the authorities called a possible overdose, after which a police officer gave him a dosage of Narcan, a drug that reverses the symptoms of an opioid overdose.

on the second Tuesday. Irsay posted his first message to X in nearly a month, saying, “On the mend. Grateful for all the messages of love and support.”
Although Irsay occasionally has club employees post on his behalf, the NFL owner himself submitted the remark to his X account, a source told ESPN.
Since the health problems surfaced, Irsay has not provided any input to the Colts, and it is unknown when he will be well enough to resume his responsibilities.
Whether the respiratory condition is connected to the occurrence on December 8 is yet unknown. Regarding Irsay’s sickness, no new information has been disclosed.

“Mr. Irsay continues to recover from his respiratory illness,” the Colts wrote in their statement at the time. “We will have no further comment on his personal health, and we continue to ask that Jim and his family’s privacy be respected.
Irsay has struggled with a variety of health problems recently and has been open about his prior addictions. In November, he told HBO Sports that he had checked himself into rehab “at least 15 times” and discussed a near-fatal experience in which he went into cardiac arrest.
Irsay, 64, was appointed general manager and vice president by the Colts in 1984, and he has been a mainstay of the NFL and the AFC for more than 40 years. Irsay, who was employed by an organization at the age of 25, is still the youngest general manager to hold that title.

Irsay assumed control of the team’s daily operations in 1995 following the stroke of his father, Robert, who was also the principal owner. Jim Irsay won legal custody of his stepmother and was awarded the team upon Robert’s death in 1997. The Colts have been among the NFL’s most fascinating teams ever since.
The Colts have had one of the league’s most reliable teams since taking control. Indianapolis has made 16 trips to the postseason in the last 27 years, winning the AFC twice and capturing its second championship in 2006 after overcoming the Chicago Bears.
