Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Revives The Anti-Vaccine Controversy, Slams Vaccine Advocate Dr. Peter Hotez

RFK Jr.’s presidential campaign is supported by Rodgers, who is also a notable opponent of the COVID-19 vaccinations. On Tuesday, Rodgers took aim at Dr. Hotez on his Instagram Story.

Aaron Rodgers seemed to be interested in the discussion, or at the very least, in listening to it.

Dr. Hotez previously attacked Rodgers in a CNN interview in 2021, when Rodgers was facing criticism in the media for the news that he had not received the COVID-19 vaccine despite having previously claimed to be “immunized” against it.

Since it appeared that their own procedures had been breached, he claimed that by not providing a counternarrative to what Aaron Rodgers was saying, it was creating a vacuum. He stated:

“I explained why this goes way beyond Aaron Rodgers. We focus on this man because there is no counter narrative, there is a vacuum. The vacuum is the ⁦@NFL, commissioner, team owners, players union. They abdicated their responsibilities.”

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Revives The Anti-Vaccine Controversy, Slams Vaccine Advocate Dr. Peter Hotez

The future Hall-of-Fame quarterback made a suggestion on Instagram under the handle @aaronrodgers12 that he would like hearing adversaries Dr. Peter Hotez and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. converse on a Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Early on June 20, Rodgers, a featured JRE guest from the previous summer, posted an Instagram “reel” that showed Hotez confessing to bad eating habits on Rogan’s program. The shared post included text in it overlay that read “@robertfkennedyjr would mop this bum.”

For the Democratic Party’s presidential candidacy in the 2024 election, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., or RFK Jr., is running against incumbent US President Joe Biden.

He has, however, supported anti-vaccine viewpoints, in contrast to other Democrats. Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, endorsed Kennedy Jr.’s campaign because of their similar anti-vaccination views.

In a Sports Illustrated piece that featured the now-expired Rodgers Instagram story, Dr. Hotez commented.

“Disappointed he took a cheap shot vs me this wk,” Dr. Hotez tweeted. “In 2021 during our awful delta wave we were losing 2,000 Americans/day, >80% among unvaccinated, when vaccines were 90% protective vs death/serious illness, I criticized him for his public antivaccine stance.”

“This is so unnecessary, I have no bad thoughts for Aaron, I needed to speak out in 2021 to try and save lives. 200,000 unvaccinated Americans needlessly perished during those delta BA.1 waves in last half of 2021 early 2022. I detail this in my new book,” the doctor continued.

“I see the @HoustonTexans play the @nyjets this year?”

On December 10, the Jets will face the Texans, and if Dr. Hotez thinks that retribution will be exacted, he may earn a lot on the betting market because the Texans are 8.5-point favorites and are +310 on the moneyline.
