Jets’ Mike White Has Fractured Rib, Zach Wilson To Start Instead
Jets quarterback Mike White made every effort to play in Sunday’s game against the Lions after sustaining what he now acknowledges to be a fractured rib.
White informed reporters on Friday that he sought clearance from 10 doctors so that he could play on Sunday. White was angry since none of them granted his request.
White reportedly said that he was simply experiencing discomfort and that he was “wishful thinking” that he would play against Detroit, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Doctors were worried about his coming into contact with the wound, though.
“I think I’ve tried talking to almost 10 doctors to just try to find somebody to clear me and they just won’t.”

White is no stranger to tenacity, and it was evident in the Jets’ 20-12 loss to the Bills when he took a number of significant blows from an AFC East foe. White was knocked out for a few plays by the initial blow he took, but he soon recovered.
White had to have X-rays after the second strike, which were more serious and did not first show the fracture. White told reporters on Monday that he knew he would return to the game even with the injury provided “everything was great.”

White remarked, “You would have had to peel me off that field.” “It was never in my mind that, ‘Yeah, I’m not finishing this game.’
The Jets’ starting quarterback is once more Zach Wilson.
Wilson will start in a pinch on Sunday since Mike White was not given the all-clear by medical professionals following his rib injury, as originally reported by ESPN, only three days after he was upgraded from third-stringer to backup.
It’s a surprising turn of events given White managed to win last week’s game against the Bills despite being knocked out twice and having in-game X-rays.
